Six Ways to Extend the Life of an Aging Car

Just change the fluids on-time

Just follow directions of the owner’s manual and change the engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid when determined to by the vehicle’s engineers

Hyper-mile

No jackrabbit starts and coasting to a stop makes for less wear and tear on your vehicle’s many starting and stopping components. A less heavy foot going up hills and coasting down hills is proven to improve your gas mileage regardless of the weight of your vehicle.

Be multi-modal

Occasionally walking or taking the bus or train when convenient instead of a short car trip leaves your vehicle idle does not consume gas, need lubrication, wear tires, or pollute.

Get the WD-40

The seals on your car over time begin to dry and will need lubrication to remain supple. Lubricant on wheel suspension boots, locks, hinges, and rubber areas like door windows once or twice a year will keep original parts functional for drastically longer.

Listen to your car

Every now and then listen to your car at lower city speeds. Listen for squeaks, squeals, or grinding sounds this occasionally will help prevent small problems from becoming big.

Avoid parking in the direct sun

The sun is the greatest enemy to your car, second only to road salt and disuse. The sun will try out rubber seals, bake off low quality paint, and accelerate exposed component degradation.
